What it will cost

Honestly, we have not set the price

We know the shape of the plans. We do not yet know the numbers, because they depend on supplier costs we are still negotiating, and we would rather say nothing than quote a figure we have to take back.

The beta itself is free, and nobody is charged without being asked first.

The free tier is one adult seat. Sharing a household with a second adult is part of the paid tier, not the free one. We would rather be clear about that now than have you discover it when you invite your partner.

The commercial position

How PocketPilot intends to make money

There is one revenue line: people paying for the paid tier. Everything below follows from that being the only one.

Not from your data

We do not sell customer data and we do not use it for advertising. Infrastructure providers who process it on our behalf are bound by contract to do only that.

Not from commission

PocketPilot has no affiliate, commission or referral relationships. Nothing the price comparison shows you is paid placement, and no retailer can buy its way up the list.

Not from surprise charges

The beta is free. When paid plans start, they start with you choosing one. No card is held during the beta, so nothing can begin billing on its own.

Questions about price

The obvious follow-ups

Why not just publish a provisional price?

Because a provisional price is still a price, and people plan around it. The costs that drive it, chiefly what data and processing providers charge per household, are still being negotiated. Publishing a number now would mean raising it later, and that is a worse thing to do to an early customer than making them wait.

Will the beta become paid without warning?

No. We take no card details during the beta, so there is nothing to charge. When paid plans open you will be told, and you will have to choose to subscribe.

What happens to my data if I stop paying?

You keep it. Dropping to the free tier is a change of plan, not a deletion. The paid features switch off and your records stay. You can also export everything at any time, on any tier.

Is there a family or multi-person plan?

A second adult is planned as part of the paid tier. Anything larger than that is not something we are offering or pricing yet, and we are not going to describe it until it exists and the safeguards around it have been reviewed.
